Fridays Avdanced class
Currently drawing class meets Friday 2:15- 3:45 age 10-14. We will meet for 3 weeks and take the 4th week off. Fridays can get busy and I want everyone to enjoy coming to art class. We begin on 9/5. Please let me know if you are interested in this class and the time does not work for you. We try to be flexible.
I offer a drawing techniques class.
The students bring their own drawing supplies and I give them advice on how to use their tools better. During the first 5 - 10 min. of class we work on a subject to quickly get a drawing on paper. This loosens the kids up. Then we move on to the lesson for about 20min. This Fall we will be working on longer drawings to be completed over 3 or 4 class times. Our book is Mastering the Art of Drawing by Ian Sidaway & Sarah Hoggett. You may purchase this at Borders Books in Buford
We have completed three lessons : Venetian Building, Fall leaves, and we continue to work on the short eared owl. We are now working on the Drawing small objects large with charcoal. Page 172 (1/19 & 1/26) We begin a new drawing this week 2/9 Drawing trees in winter & working on the short haired dog (p 202)
Advanced class is working on a stone sculpture. The pictures below are of one of the classes meeting on the deck.
The boys are doing turtles. Anna is doing an owl and I am working on a pig. Check back for an update and final pictures. We are taking the last 2 weeks of August to complete this project before the drawing classes start back.
These are some photos of one of the wildlife classes on the deck by the creek. We sketch outside when the weather is good. We were sketching a coyote Roger had mounted from here on the farm. Other things we sketched this time: a fox, a fish and we tried to sketch our cows but they just would not cooperate. The kids just love working from something real. It is great for them to have this type of practice.

Intro to Drawing
Tuesday 4-5 , Thursday 3:30 (continuing class), Friday 4- 5 for intro to 3-D drawing
Tuesday evenings 5:30-7 continuing 3-D Book #2
This class is just right for age 7 and up who are intrested in drawing better. I will introduce shading and 3 dimensional techniques. We will learn how to put shapes together and draw animals, cars, objects and people. Our main objective is to gain confidence in drawing.
We will be working out of Mark Kistler's Draw Squad (you can look through this book on Amazon.com). He is the artist on the Imagination Station. You order this book for your child from Amazon.com. This class is an ongoing drawing class that builds on techniques that we are learning. Attendance is strongly advised to see regular improvement. We are covering topics like: Shading, perspective, fast sketching, still life subject, facial features and others. Mark Kistler has an interesting way of approaching these subjects that I think the kids will like. I have some technical terms that I go over. And we get busy on the days drawing assignment. Some of the topics we will go over include overlaping, shadows, foreshortening & size just to mention a few. We finish up by all showing our work and discussing what we like and dislike about our drawings. If time allows I give the students time to draw whatever they enjoy. We have drawn eggs, railroad tracks, pumpkins, constructed a barn and turning cubes into objects. You will find the next sessions listed below:
Classes will begin 9/2
Below see some pictures of the kids with their 3-D drawings. They are doing so great. Look at their shading.

Kids Drawing Workshop- In ________ I will hold a 3 day kids drawing workshop. Please bring a sketch pad 9" x 12", pencils and an eraser. Topic has not been decided yet. We may do horses.
These workshops are a great introduction to what the drawing classes are all about. It is a good way for you to see if your child likes the drawing before committing to a year of drawing.
