Pictures from the spring show at Elachee Nature Science Center. If I still have your artwork please come by and pick it up. I need the room.
Don't forget to look at the photos to see the kids and their projects. PHOTOS
On Fridays this past spring I was continuing with the painting of a mural (phase 2) at the Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church. Come by and help me paint. We are half way through and I would love the company. Please contact me if your Friday mornings are free and you like to paint. Watch for any updates on your e-mail. We will try to complete this in August. I am almost finished!!!!
The Hats for halos crochet & knitting club will now meet on the first Monday of the month in the mornings from 10-12 and for the afterschool kids 5:30-6:30. Plan on attending and getting involved. Last year I donated 400 hats and I am sure we will have over 500 by the end of the year. Come see what we are doing.
Also check out the clubs tab for information on Hats for Halos- my community outreach project making hats for kids with cancer. Every one is welcome.
The High museum called me and asked for a donation because funding of art programs have been drastically cut. WOW!!!! Well you don't have to go anywhere special for art. It is right here in Flowery Branch at the Little Artist Studio!!!! Sign up for some classes.
We are doing some great things here at the studio and other educators agree!!!
Another article in Southern Living April pg. 120-122 geared toward art. It said that "Creating art can be a meditative activity, which can help you relax and bring inner peace to your life." WOW!!!
This is wonderful way of describing creativity from Twyla Tharp, the famous dancer, "You can't just dance or paint or write or sculpt. Those are just verbs. You need a tangible idea to get you going. The idea, however minuscule, is what turns the verb into a noun----paint into a painting, sculpt into sculpture, write into writing, dance into dance." I will be including lots of ideas here on the site for the new year. Check back regularly or e-mail me with your idea.
I love this! I tell so many people that I am an artist and they say, "Oh I love to paint but, I can't find the time." or "My child is creative and loves art. I really need to bring him over." Well you gotta put some feet to those words. I have lots of starting points to share with eager students. Starting points that will motivate them into wanting to do more. So look through the topics for classes and call me up. Let's be creative together.
Please check your e-mail for any changes or updates. This is a great way for me to communicate with a group.
Please call ahead now for visiting the gallery. I would love for you to drop by, browse the gallery or just to visit with me. Come by and see what is going on.
