With a few short turns away from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta Highway in booming southern Hall County, you have left the hectic world behind and found a place where time slows down, nature abounds, and creativity reigns. Little Artist Studio sits just down the hill from the main house on the Little's farm. From the studio you can hear the babbling sounds of the Mulberry River just a few feet away, or sit on the deck overhanging the river where pottery and drawing classes are held in nice weather.
The drive down the winding country lane is the perfect creative inspiration for a wonderful artistic experience. At Little Artist Studio, children and adults have the unique opportunity to work alongside artist/designer Cathy Little as she shares techniques in various mediums from acrylic painting and watercolor to pottery, drawing and folk art projects.
Cathy a Georgia native, received her Bachelor’s degree in print and environmental graphics from Auburn University in 1984. And went on to work designing commercial and industrial brochures, logos, wall graphics and signage, as well as serving as a marketing director for a Historic Preservation and Landscape Architecture firm. While freelancing part time doing graphics, she developed a line of note cards and baby items utilizing her original artwork, and thus “Little Designs” was born. Since then, these items have been made available to the wholesale market. Take a few minutes to browse the gallery of the studio where they can also be purchased.
For the past several years, while continuing to paint, design and create new art, Cathy has also been focusing her talents on teaching both adult classes and classes for various children’s age groups. She holds classes throughout the year, and has many summer programs to choose from. Students can sign up for just one class, or attend a series of workshops. She has a special gift for working with children, and her goal for the young artists in her classes is not just to teach them technique, but to help them gain confidence. She has been blessed with a wonderful gift in her artistic talent, a passion for sharing her creativity with others, and a beautiful setting in which to nurture others in their own artistic endeavors.
